Snow & Glow

Join us for a night of winter fun at City Forest! Enjoy sledding, the tobaggan run, and ice skating--with glowsticks! Plus you can warm up in the chalet with some games! Bring your own sled and extra money for snacks.

First up is The American Foundry Society (AFS) Saginaw Valley Chapter (SVC). The AFS/SVC will present “Foundry in a Box”.  Kids select their casting to make and pack the mold with sand. The molten tin is then poured in the mold. After it cools, the casting is extracted from the sand, and the excess metal is trimmed. Kids keep the results!

Join us for our annual lock in! This year’s theme is heroes and villains—we’ll have plenty of themed games, movies, and activities—including a costume contest! Community Programs Manager Andrea Foster of The Little Forks Conservancy will help students make seed balls – a mixture of water, clay, soil, and Michigan native seeds. As students get their hands dirty while forming seeds balls, Andrea teaches them the importance of using native seeds and what to expect when the seed balls are “thrown” into nature.
