Feeding the Future at The ROCK

We are thrilled to share that The ROCK Center for Youth Development has received a $2,000 Farm Bureau Feeding the Future grant from Matt Larson and Larson Insurance Solutions, a local agent who truly understands the power of community.

This grant is more than just financial support—it’s a powerful investment in the potential of our youth. With this grant, we will expand the fresh, healthy food options provided to teens in our Out-of-School Time (OST) program.

What makes this partnership so special is the shared belief that strong communities are built by lifting up the next generation. Larson Insurance Solutions has been a champion of local community giving. “With Farm Bureau’s commitment to end childhood hunger in Michigan, we have the opportunity to write grants to local community organizations and their hunger efforts,” says Larson. “There are many of these types of groups in our area to choose from, so this year I opened it up to my staff to help. Quickly the ROCK rose to the surface having helped one of our staff members throughout their youth. It warms our hearts to be able to not only give to our community in general, but directly back to a group that helped us personally.” 

The ROCK was selected as a partner for this grant because Jessica Musum, an employee of Larson Insurance solutions, had memories of attending the ROCK as a teen. “I started going to The ROCK at the end of middle school, likely around the time they opened up,” says Musum. “I used to attend the dances and made a good group of friends. Several years down the road, and I was picking up my nephews from The ROCK’s after school program, which allowed them to get a snack and socialize while my sister finished her shifts. I was so happy to be able to help give back to the program that was so fundamental in my formative years and still continues to help our community.”

Thanks to support from community partners like Larson Insurance Solutions, we can continue to provide safe, enriching spaces where young people are empowered to grow, dream, and thrive. This grant helps us deepen our impact and reach the youth who need it most.
