OST Program Volunteers

The ROCK Out of School time is productive after school programs that instill confidence and a sense of belonging, provide mentorship, tutors, games, activities, food, and a safe place for teens.

TIME:  Mondays-Fridays – 2:00-6:00pm at four different locations: Jefferson MS, Meridian JHS, Northeast MS and The ROCK Underground at GMCC

Requirements for Working in OST 

        • Enjoy working with teens
        • Ability to work well with others
        • Ability to take initiative

Duties & Responsibilities 

Interact with and supervise teens during daily activities, including:

        • Crafts
        • Sports
        • Physical Games
        • Board Games
        • Homework Help

Have a special talent, hobby or interest to share with students?  We’d love to have you!

Examples include:

          • Scrapbooking
          • Sewing
          • Crochet
          • Woodworking
          • Lessons on anything! (Guitar, cooking (limited), art, etc.)

Come from a different culture?

          • Come share with our teens about that culture

STEM Program Volunteers

STEM is an afterschool, summer, and out of school program that enables youth to explore their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

TIME:  Mondays-Fridays – 2:00-6:00pm at four different locations: Jefferson MS, Meridian JHS, Northeast MS and The ROCK Underground at GMCC 

**Must arrange in advance so that we may acquire all necessary items to do the STEM presentation or activity.

Requirements for providing STEM 

        • Enjoy working with teens
        • Must have knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
        • Ability to work well with others
        • Ability to take initiative

Duties & Responsibilities 

Interact with and supervise teens during daily activities, including:

        • Lead STEM Demos
        • Lead interactive STEM activities
        • Record participants and results of activity
        • Take pictures

Summer Program Volunteers

TIME: Mondays-Fridays – 8:00am-6:00pm at The ROCK Underground

Requirements for Working in Summer Program 

        • Enjoy working with teens
        • Ability to work well with others
        • Ability to take initiative

Duties & Responsibilities 

Interact with and supervise teens during daily activities, including:

        • Crafts
        • Sports
        • Physical Games
        • Board Games
        • Field Trip Chaperone
        • STEM presentations or activities

ROCK OST Events Volunteers

The ROCK events are community-based larger teen events such as pool parties, lock-ins, ect. that encourage healthy life choices and relationships, create a sense of community awareness, and allows teens to engage in safe and supportive social activities.

 

Event Dates:

Indoor Pool Party – Friday, March 10 from 7:00-10:00pm

Lock in  – Saturday, April 22 from 10:00pm-Sunday, April 23 – 7:00am

Summer Pool Parties at Plymouth Pool – once a month on a Wednesday (dates TBD)

Requirements for working at OST Events 

        • Enjoy working with teens
        • Ability to work well with others
        • Ability to take initiative

Duties & Responsibilities 

Interact with and supervise teens during daily activities, including:

        • Crafts
        • Sports
        • Physical games
