Partnering for Youth Success with United Way of Midland County

On September 8th, The ROCK staff joined more than 170 volunteers to help United Way of Midland County build community caring kits. This kickoff event marked the beginning of United Way’s 2025 Campaign. Kits were distributed to 25 partner agencies, including The ROCK! Students took home STEM kits to build their own gardens and bird feeders. Read on to learn more about how we partner with United Way of Midland County to support teens in The ROCK and Discover You™ all year long!

 On September 23rd, members of Young Leaders United learned about building assets in youth from employees of Discover You™, The Legacy Center for Community Success, and Midland County Probate Court. Members learned how they can support youth in the community by helping to build assets in simple ways. The Young Leaders then brainstormed ideas for fun, screen-free activities to share with youth at The ROCK.

Throughout the year, United Way of Midland County and partner organizations help maximize our impact for youth. Hidden Harvest delivers fresh food for the teens at The ROCK. They even delivered some sweet treats for our back-to-school parties! We collaborate with partner agencies that support youth mentorship programs, including The Legacy Center for Community Success and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region. 

In March, United Way of Midland County also partnered with Discover You™ to expand our PeerLIFT keynote with Molly Kennedy to include adult community members. We welcomed parents, caregivers, educators, coaches, and all caring adults from across the community to be part of the conversation on how to build resilience in our young people.
