This idea came to life last week, when staff from Discover You™ and The ROCK gathered for a shared meal. After enjoying food and conversation, they participated in a simple yet powerful appreciation activity: each staff member shared something they appreciated about a fellow team member. But this wasn’t just a feel-good moment; it demonstrated how gratitude can transform a group into a community. It reminded everyone that being seen and valued is one of the most meaningful gifts we can offer each other.

Academic research demonstrates that incorporation of Gratitude Social Practices can improve group cohesion, resilience, and mental health outcomes for youth. When coaches incorporated these practices into their programs for youth athletes, relationships between teammates and athlete-coach relationships were strengthened.
